Hey there – I’m really glad you’re here.
Welcome to Almostartist, a space I created for artists like me — and maybe like you too.
I’m a self-taught traditional artist, and for a long time, I didn’t feel like a “real” one. I never had the chance to go to art school. I didn’t grow up with high-end supplies or formal training. Most of the time, I was just figuring it out as I went, learning through trial, error, and a lot of late nights with a sketchbook.
Life got in the way more times than I can count. There were long stretches where I didn’t draw or paint at all — not because I didn’t want to, but because I felt stuck, overwhelmed, or unsure if I was even “good enough” to keep going.
But somehow, I always came back to it.
Because creating makes me feel alive. It helps me reconnect with myself in ways nothing else does.

Why I Started Almostartist ?
I started this blog to share my journey honestly — the good, the messy, the in-between — in hopes it can help someone else keep going too.
Here, you’ll find:
- Beginner-friendly tutorials using traditional mediums — graphite, ink, watercolor, acrylic, whatever I’ve got on hand
- Budget-friendly art supply reviews, because I know what it’s like to make art on a tight budget
- Tips for staying motivated, finding time to create, and dealing with the doubt that creeps in when you’re doing it all on your own
- Sketchbook pages, process notes, and reflections from one artist figuring it out in real time
This isn’t a space for perfection — it’s a space for progress.
Being an artist isn’t about having credentials or a studio full of supplies.
It’s about creating anyway.
Let’s Stay Connected
If anything here speaks to you — if you’ve ever felt like an “almost artist” too — I’d love for you to stick around.
Subscribe to the blog so you don’t miss a new post
Follow me on social media – I just recently started showing up there, even though self-doubt still sneaks in. But I’m learning to share the process, not just the polished result.
Leave a comment or reach out anytime — I truly enjoy hearing from fellow creatives. We grow better together.
You don’t need permission to create. You just need a reason.
And maybe this is yours.
Thanks for being here.
You’re always welcome — exactly as you are.
